Hello.
This week: Divisons. duh. It's my life as a sister training leader. I went with Hermana Chimbo from Ecuador (the besttttt. I loveeee this hermana). Then on Thursday Hermana Mariaca from Bolivia (such a cutie). Elder Packer from the 70 came and visited us. We had a special meeting with the STLs and Zone Leaders where we learned how to be better leaders. It was fantastic. Then we had a meeting with the other missionaries. My favorite part was when he encouraged us to think in a way that we would baptize every week. Doesn't that sound fantastic? He told us that the second coming is near and the work is hastening even more. We've got to work harder. For our service activity we cleaned a hoarder house. I'm just leaving it at that. It was interesting. We found a Book of Mormon from 1999 :) Right now we are working with fantastic people: 1. Papito: our famous Hatian. He still doesn't speak spanish but he does speak a little english. And I mean a little. 2. Eliana: She has read the entire Book of Mormon and knows the church is true, she just won't seal the deal and come to church on Sunday :( 3. Franswa: he's from Haiti (everyone I teach is Jatian no joke) and he's a pastor in some evangelico church but he changed his tune these last few weeks and has been coming to our church alone. 4. Sara: she is the mom of a member. We had a great lesson this week where we talked about how she could receive her answer. We told her if she really wanted to know if the church was true she needed to come to church. (helllloooo) and she came. It was great. I love my mission. I know I always say that, but it's not a joke. I love the saints of God here in Chile. Yesterday at church I got a little choked up because it hit me how much I will miss these people. They have been my family the last 16 months. They have fed me, listened to me, laughed with me, shared thier hearts and home with me. I owe a debt I cannot repay to the people of Chile. xoxo Hermana Brinkerhoff

This week my whole world got flipped upside down. We had "special changes." Hermana Bedoya left me. We still don't know why, but everything is for a reason. My new companion is Hermana Bohling. She is from Indiana and goes home in three weeks. Our house is getting a little trunky ;) She is a great Hermana and I'm excited to be her last companion. (It's the first time I've "killed" someone).
I'm still living the sister training leader life. The hermanas in this mission are so great and full of potential. This week I was with Hermana Young. :) She is an excellent hermana. Jeggings is doing well. His cousins just got here from Haiti and didn't have any winter clothes, so we found them some. I just love Haitian people so much. Some of my favorite lessons are with them. We met another Haitian friend named Papito. He is a famous actor in Haiti. It made my week. I'm speed reading the new testament in Spanish. It's going well. I love learning about the life of the Savior. :) xoxo Hermana Brinkerhoff Turns out Francisco might already be a member. Really puts a downer on things, but we found a new Hatian friend who speaks perfect spanish and is married. Things are looking up.
We had more divisions this week. I'm starting to really love them. The hermanas of this mission are so fantastic. President has told us we need to really work on training the future leaders because we all go home soon. That will be my focus these next few months. We had interviews and he told me that another focus of mine should be what kind of legacy I want to leave in the mission. Mother's Day was so fun. The wards hosted a little party for all the moms after church. Of course, I enjoyed talking to my lovely parents for the last time. My favorite part was grandpa AB and his jokes. Also when I asked my mom if she was trunky and she said, "Yeah, actually I'm really trunky." Dang mom. Trabajar no mas. xoxo Hermana Brinkerhoff I am so happy to be back in Padre Hurtado. I feel so much better. My sector is fantastic. My companion is so great & I live with the funniest hermana in the mission. I just feel so blessed. It's so nice to be with people who you get along with so well. This week... -We rode bikes. The hermanas we live with have bikes and we can use them. It was a whole different world for me after walking everywhere for so long. -This sector is FULL of haitianos. It's fantastic, pero FANTÁSTICO. They are the best. We always end up laughing our heads off by the end of the lesson. - I am now acting has a human translator because hermana de la cruz is training a gringa! It's almost like I'm training her too because I have to explain everything in english to her. -We had our leadership meeting with presidente woodward...he is the best. I really like how he focuses on us making our own decisions and preparing us for after the mission. -Yesterday at church i got attacked with hugs by my old ward (we share a building with them). It was a grand reunion. Angelina and Sabina cried. Love them so much. As we were all talking someone came up to me and said, "Look what you did!! Look at the people that are here today for your efforts." It was a really touching moment for me. I had no idea the impact our work had done in the ward. -We have a hatian friend named Fransisco. He told us "me mormon" I think that means he's interested in hearing our message. xoxo hermana brinkerhoff What a week. Five things to say...
1. Holy earthquakes. I take it all back. I want the Wyoming tornado. We had a 7.0 this week. I'm not a fan. Every day it has been shaking. 2. I had divisions with my Hermanita Zapata. Oh my goodness, I love her. We had a fantastic day and visited many of our old investigators and favorite members. 3. I got transfered...but it's the best transfer EVER!!!! I have come back to Padre Hurtado, but now I'm in the ward El Manzano. This ward shares a church with my old ward which means I get to see Angelina, Sabina, Markenson, and all of my favorites from El Sauce all the time. Angelina cried when she heard I was coming back. My new companion is Hermana Bedoya. She is Colombian and sooooo cute. She reminds me of Kierstyn Soloai. El Manzano is the best ward to finish my mission in. I AM SO HAPPY. Vamos penaflor round 2. 4. Leaving El Abrazo was terrible, but I am so grateful for all the things I learned there. 5. Hermana Rodriguez is training. That makes me a grandma in mission terms, right? Love you all so very much! My motto these days: "Twelve weeks to baptize" -my zone leaders. XOXO Hermana Brinkerhoff Here is a great article and way too many fotos. https://www.lds.org/ensign/2017/02/understanding-church-history-by-study-and-faith?lang=eng |
