Well hello everyone!!! This week was super, super good. First off we had a training for the trainers...again...it was like 8 hours long and I will tell you right now my body can not sit that long anymore. I don't know how I'm going to make it in school. It was rough. Hermana Grover was there, so there is the highlight of my week!! Some days I get humbled to death. For example there is a haitano in my sector that speaks perfect english. He told me about his life in Haiti and I wanted to cry. There is something about your own language that just really hit home. I can not express the love I have for the Haitian people. I firmly believe they will have a special place in heaven for the things they've been through. We also had divisions this week and Hermana Owen and I went crazy!!! We taught all day. it was sweet. Also a little name-dropping—the son of the football coach in Meet the Mormons--yeah, he's in my mission. This week we jumped roped with some little girls in the street. I still have some mad jump roping skills even after all these years (and in a skirt). One of the little girl's names was "Josie" in english, so we bonded pretty well. :) Some days I really don't feel worthy of the blessings I receive on my mission. Yesterday we walked into the church and there was this girl sitting on the bench. She told us she wa 14 and had lots of desires to go to church, and her mom told her "go find a church if you want to go to church so bad." So she came. SOLO! It was a MIRACLE. Her name is Barbara and I love her. It was a good week. I sure love you all and I can't believe it's November. It's so hot here I can't imagine any type of snow and the Christmas music is really throwing me off, but all is well. XOXO Hermana Brinkerhoff FOTOS: The ward activity was off the chain. I made snicker salad and Juan came! Good time. Check out that burn!!!!

I tripped in public this week and that's what someone yelled at me. Gotta love being a gringa. Also I had about two minutes of terror where I thought I had lice---false alarm, but it would not surprise me. Also my comp made me sing on the bus this week. I wanted to die. I love my hija with all my heart. She's a good one, she came pretrained. No really, she's perfect. And the big news of the week.... Angelina and Sabina GOT BAPTIZEDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!! It went so well...probably because Elder Clements and Elder Santos helped us out a ton. "We are going to baptize hermanitaaaaa!!!!" -Elder Santos. Angelina came out of the water laughing and crying and Sabina invited a ton of her friends. It was awesome. Makenon baptized them and said the words perfectly. Score. It was fantastic. To me, Angelina and Sabina are perfect example of people who "are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it." (D&C 123:12) How grateful I am that the Elders gave us their reference and I've had the chance to be their missionary the past 3 months. In other news I hit 9 months this week and so we snapped a pic. I hope you like the uncut version of Hermana Brinkerhoff. This week marks one year since I lost my dear Grandma Brinkerhoff. She has been on my mind quite a bit lately. She had such an impact on me and I am forever grateful for her. I've been thinking about her funeral and when we sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again," all of us cousins. I remember Grandpa crying and looking with love at all of his posterity. I hope all of my cousins are living up to the legacy that Grandma left and are making her proud! There is nothing better we can do. I sure love you all and am grateful for this opportunity I have to serve as a missionary in the awesome country of CHILE. These last nine months have been so interesting and there are a lot of things I will share at a later date. Haha! But overall the mission has been the best choice of my life, and no matter what, I will never regret it. XOXO Hermana Brinkerhoff |
